Navy Roll
SOLAS regulations require that engine rooms / hot surfaces are protected against hazardous spray outs from pipelines containing fuel or lube oil. These are generally considered as being joints and fittings such as flanges, valves, couplings etc.
Navy Roll has been developed to overcome the disadvantages of conventional forms of shielding. Navy Roll is made of multi-layered fibreglass and is suitable for the heavy duty environments including ship engine rooms.
Navy Roll is ideally suited for both repair/overhaul of existing vessels and new builds. The nature of the product is such that it can be kept in stock and used for a variety of joints and fittings.
In addition to flanges, the roll can be used equally well for couplings, valves, pumps and other non-standard fittings.
Navy Roll is available in various widths as detailed below.
Application:
Cut a length of roll to 140% the approximate outside diameter of the flange. Thread two ties or wires through the loop of material that runs along the length of each side of the roll, leaving an inch poking out at each end. Wrap the shield around the flange. Simply tighten the ties until the shield is a snug fit to the profile of the flange. Only a pair of pliers are required for installation!
